Two of the issues I have with sewing all the time to keep my Etsy site stocked and hopefully earn a little income are a) the mountains of fabric scraps that I don't know what to do with but feel totally like an evil landfill filler if I toss 'em (especially if there is a cute little animal all alone on a tiny little piece of fabric...it feels like abandonment, and b) the fact that I rarely make anything without the intention of selling it, or just for me or a loved one, or just for fun.
So... with these things in mind I have started building a pattern free rag rug from my scraps. I am basically just crocheting a giant oval from strips of cotton. The fabric choices are random and due to minimal skill on my part the increases are random. It could be that I end up with more of an amoeba shape than an oval, but I don't care. My favorite pieces are the edge scraps of fabrics with the designer and names of the fabrics printed on them.
When finished the rug will go under my wobbly living room coffee table. The table itself has four equal-size legs, it's just that the floor happens to be uneven.
